What Will Her Name Be??

On March 19th, 2011 we got together for luncheon to celebrate my soon-to-be grand daughther!

As is tradition, I made the all important "diaper cake" center piece! Cute, right? With a little green monkey topper that she will hopefully like to play with.

In attendance were several family members, as well as my best friend and her daughter, Aimee. We've known each other since our girls where 2 and 4 yrs old!

Big brother-to-be helps mom with opening gifts.

Aren't gift bags the best invention ever!? Love them!

These pink and girly driks were jummy! Pomogranete Lemonade and Sparkling wine (aka "champagne"), served on pink sugar-rimmed flutes. Fun, fun!

These fun snack are pretzels dipped in white chocolate and sprinked with pink edible crystals.

Unlike my daugher, a cake decorater, I am NOT! But it was edible. I don't like to get store-bought cakes, so even my cakes are "rustic" looking, I still prefer them.

These are just flowers from my garden...tiny and beautiful just a new baby!

I also had some cherry blossoms that were the perfect pink!

These pink soaps Favors were so fun to make! Had fun making the little tags too, each one unique!

The decor was simple but unique, made of baby clothes cut-outs, including dresses, onesies, underware, and bibs. They were strung about like as "clothese line". SO much fun!

Here the underware that matched to dresses. Using a double-sided paper was key. Mommy plans to use 3 of them for decorating baby's room!

These whreath was the pic, the actual one I had the day of was of all underware but didn't take a photo.

The invites were so SWEET! Little dresses with the details inside! Sadly I didn't get to send everybody one because I ran out of paper and when I went to buy more, the store was out! I plan to make more for those I missed, including one for my scrapbook.

Helping 'round the house!

It always takes me soooo long to post my events! I'm thinking it may have something to do with the fact that both a "multi-tasking" and a "procrastinator"!

West: Here's your proplem, great grandma! Your water was turned off but I've taken care of it for you! You can water your plants now :)

West looks for the blender so he can make a fruit smoothy for grandma. This guy gets into EVERYthing!

West fixes grandmas "manual" window lock!

Of all things, he finds my mini craft hammer fascinating, and sets out to fix my barstool. He's so smart!

We are going to grandma's house

What fun it was to spend time with my little ones over the weekend. West love to play the keyboad, doesn't like the yard too much because my dog, Tommy, is there, but oh how we enjoyed laying on the grass. West thought I was a good pillow. Life just can't get any better!

A Surprise Visit

I was in town for a home inspection and was lucky enough to be able to stop for sweet hugs & kisses from my Wester! I brought some Pupusas (from Berta's stand on 97th Ave) for luch, and as you can see, the Westernator loved them.
He loves to knock down the tower of cups after daddy stacks them up for him!

In this pic he's eating jello, but on one further down he's got Pupusa all over his face.

My sweet boy's getting so big and loves riding his little tricycle.
Yum yum, thanks for lunch grandma!

He LOVES looking at the camera and smilling.....then quickly looks behind it to see the photo. So smart!

The Classic Pull-Along-Phone

I have about 5 videos of him pulling this little phone around the house. He just goes and goes! This cute phone was given to his mom by her dad, Al, on her 1st birthday. Seems like that was just yesterday, and now 26 yrs later my grandson loves pulling it around and making calls!

Wester just LOVES food! I gave him a huge piece of bread to see if he would try to eat it. He did!
I think he's try to take my phone.....loves to pretend he's call dad on it.

He loves getting thrown in the air by daddy

Grandma, you're taking another picture of me eating?

My grandson, the Westernator, has discover the art of pulling this little phone(given to his mother on her 1st birthday by her dad) around the house. He just goes and goes!

He LOVES to eat...I gave him a huge piece of bread just to if he would try to eat it and he did!

Great Big Blessing - September 27, 2009

My little Wester's blessing was such a special moment in our lives. As Derek lovingly gave him his beautiful blessing I felt his love for his son. It was a true blessing for me to able to be there to witness such a special moment, in our lives. Derek asked me if I wanted to hold West, as he came back to sit down, and handed him to me. West's look was absolutely that of peace (he looked blessed) from having felt his father's blessing even though he was only a baby. That memory of him all dressed in white, laying on the white blanket his grandmother Lori made for him will stay with me forever.

Wester with great-auntie Maria,
whom appears to have forgotten how to hold a baby! He he!

Wester with auntie Jodi, she's a natural!

He always loves it when she holds him!

My Father's Gifts Oct 23, 1940 - Sep 1, 2009

I still cannot accept that fact that my father is no longer with us. My father was a fighter all his life and to not have him here with us is just not real yet. Not sure it will ever be. If you have ever tried to keep a positive attitude about life, you shoud have met my father. Nothing bothered him really. I never saw him mad or upset at anyone. I never heard him say a bad word in anger at anyone. He was always smiling! My father thought me a lot about gardening and how to grow plants and work the land. I think that's why I love playing in the dirt! He also thought me how to parallel park when I was 16! Many people have problems parking parallel, but not me. Every time I parallel park I think of him. Most important of all, my father gave his family, and his posterity, the gift of being citizens of this great country of ours that I love so much. What a priceless gift to give to those you love.

Since I was the first born, and I was born in June I tell my siblings I was my dad's first Father's Day gift!

My dad with his first grandchild, my daughter, Angel.

This my sister Soco's wedding. Nice bunch, Dad!

Here we are at my daughter's wedding in 2006. My dad sure made a beautiful family.

My dad meets his great-grandson, West, for the first and last time. They'll both miss out a great deal.

My dad, as my boyfriend Chris put it, was the strongest 90lb man I ever met.

Te recordamos siempre.
We remember you always.
